It is important to note that L. pipes are 40% to 50% lighter than conventional ductile iron pipes.
The assembly and disassembly process for this product is similar to that of Tyton pipes, with the key difference being that less force is required due to the lighter weight of these pipes. Especially for smaller sizes, assembly can often be performed using a manual lever. Therefore, it is recommended to use the minimum amount of lubricant necessary during assembly and installation. In this case, first apply the lubricant to the pipe end, and after ensuring the joint area is clean, proceed with assembly.
Due to the reduced wall thickness of these pipes, it is recommended to order and ship this product in packaging. Additionally, using square wooden beams during unloading and storage is advisable.
Lightweight pipes represent a new generation of ductile iron pipes with wall thicknesses less than those of traditional ductile iron pipes. Thanks to their significant weight reduction, these pipes offer a more engineered, cost-effective, and practical solution for drinking water distribution networks. As ductile iron remains the preferred material for drinking water lines, lightweight pipes have become the best alternative to polymer pipes in these applications. They also overcome many of the drawbacks and limitations of polymer pipes, such as storage and outdoor handling restrictions, environmental concerns, and the high maintenance costs associated with polymer pipe breaks and leaks.
