It is important to note that L. pipes are 40% to 50% lighter than conventional ductile iron pipes.

Assembly and Disassembly of L. Pipes

The assembly and disassembly process for this product is similar to that of Tyton pipes, with the key difference being that less force is required due to the lighter weight of these pipes. Especially for smaller sizes, assembly can often be performed using a manual lever. Therefore, it is recommended to use the minimum amount of lubricant necessary during assembly and installation. In this case, first apply the lubricant to the pipe end, and after ensuring the joint area is clean, proceed with assembly.

Other Specifications and Types of Internal and External Coatings of L. Pipes

    • External Coating Type: Metallic zinc coating (200 g/m²) with a final green epoxy/polyurethane layer, minimum thickness 70 microns, according to ISO 8179
    • Internal Coating Type: Portland cement lining according to ISO 4179 and EN 598 standards
    • Sealing Gasket Type: Polyethylene joint gaskets

    Ordering and Product Storage Instructions

Due to the reduced wall thickness of these pipes, it is recommended to order and ship this product in packaging. Additionally, using square wooden beams during unloading and storage is advisable.

Enhanced Reliability for Urban and Rural Water Distribution Networks

Lightweight pipes represent a new generation of ductile iron pipes with wall thicknesses less than those of traditional ductile iron pipes. Thanks to their significant weight reduction, these pipes offer a more engineered, cost-effective, and practical solution for drinking water distribution networks. As ductile iron remains the preferred material for drinking water lines, lightweight pipes have become the best alternative to polymer pipes in these applications. They also overcome many of the drawbacks and limitations of polymer pipes, such as storage and outdoor handling restrictions, environmental concerns, and the high maintenance costs associated with polymer pipe breaks and leaks.

    Standards:

    • Lightweight pipes with a nominal wall thickness of 3 to 4 millimeters are manufactured in accordance with ISO 16631.

    Applications:

    • Ideal for areas with limited access where transporting conventional pipes is challenging.
    • Suitable replacement for polymer pipes in drinking water distribution networks.
    • The optimal choice for low-pressure distribution lines.

    Advantages:

    • Prevents the transfer of hazardous chemical compounds into drinking water.
    • Eliminates storage and outdoor warehousing limitations of polymer pipes.
    • Reduces leakage and water loss in the network compared to polymer pipes.
    • Significantly easier storage and transportation compared to polymer pipes.
    • Environmentally friendly and compliant with relevant standards.
    • Easy leak detection due to the conductive pipe body.
    • Simple installation, use, and on-site cutting.
    • Allows angular deflection up to 6 degrees.
    • A green product with high abrasion resistance.
    • Less breakage in the distribution network.
    • Prevents unauthorized tapping.
    • Lower maintenance and repair requirements.
